Charles Thraves is an Assistent Professor at the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Chile. He received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the Operations Research Center at MIT and holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and a Master in Operations Management from the University of Chile. His research areas are focused on the intersection of operations management and political science, including OR methodologies such as optimization and game theory for electoral campaign, development of statistical methods to predict elections, and the use of machine learning methods and probability theory on election forensics. He is also interested in topics in the areas of education, retail, and healthcare. His work has been awarded the best Student Paper Competition at POMS, and the Franz Edelman Award.
