Dr. Corvalán is an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering at the Universidad de Chile, where he teaches Introduction to Economics, Econometrics, and Political Economy. He studied Physics at Universidad de Chile, and he received his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University (NYU). His research focused on political economy, institutions, inequality, and conflict. He studies how institutions shape the incentives of political and economic agents and the relationship between agents and institutions with elections and conflicts. His research has been published in top journals in economics, such as the Journal of the European Economic Association and the Journal of Development Economics. His research has been supported with grants from Conicyt and Iniciativa Científica Milenio. He has advised public offices on several topics.
