He obtained a M.Sc. in Operations Management from the University of Chile in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Columbia University in 2011. Afterwards, he was at the University of Pittsburgh until 2013 as an assistant professor, and since August 2013 he is back at the University of Chile, also as an assistant professor.
