Juan Velásquez

Dr. Juan D. Velásquez is Full Professor at the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Chile. During his academic life, he has been adviser for more than 140 reports and theses (master and doctorate), has written more than 140 scientific publications and book chapters, is the author of the book "Adaptive Web Site: A Knowledge Extraction from Web Data Approach", published by IOS Press in 2008. He is also editor in chief of the books series Advanced Techniques in Web Intelligence part 1 and 2, published by Springer-Verlang in September, 2010 and 2012. He has been post doctoral fellow at the Computing Laboratory, University of Oxford, UK, visiting professor at the Center for Collaborative Research, University of Tokyo, Japan and the VSB Ostrava Technical University, Czech Republic, and guest lecturer in more than 10 countries. In 2009, he was the General Chair of the International Knowledge Engineering System (KES) Conference and in 2018 General Chair of the International Conference on Web Intelligence held in Santiago de Chile.
His research lines are health engineering data science, web mining and knowledge management.
